Great tutorial, was hoping that I could find a way to get this working.

I can verify that this WILL work with Windows 7 as I just got it working on Windows 7 RC1 (32-Bit).

Actually now that the Vista drivers are correct, I find Studio 10.8 to be quite robust and full featured. That is what made this process so worth while for a simple and inexpensive hardware device.

Yeah, Its a shame that dazzle makes good hardware, yet their software and drivers and support suck. I have yet to find a program that can use the dazzle as an input so you can just bypass their crappy Pinnacle Studio Program =/

Thanks for publishing this! I followed your PITA process and it worked.

Even on my low-end P4, the DVC170 now works fine with low CPU usage. I can surf and multi-task while extracting from DVD or doing real time streaming capture from my DirecTV HD DVR without so much as one dropped frame.

I use VideoReDo TVSuite for editing and that software has had no problem dealing with DVC170 source material.

Yeah, pinnacle seems like a terrible company, imho =P I only got it because it was on woot and it was like 30 dollars instead of the usual 100 or so. Anyway, i don’t have a 64 bit vista licence so i can’t really help you install it on 64 bit vista…but once windows 7 comes out, i will be installing the 64 bit version of that, and i will try to get it to work!

very frustrated at pinnacle for not having 64bit vista drivers for the dazzle dvc 170. my old computer was too slow to play xbox on with the dazzle (there was a 1.5 second lag which made online play impossible to do well). apparently now my new computer is too good to use the dazzle… >:O

there is no way to use the DVC170 on a 64bit…. ni f….g way!
i tryed al 64bit drivers on the site….but no one works…. damn

I’m getting this for my birthday whilst i have vista :/
I’ve noticed on youtube that theres like 2 different ways to get it to work on vista but i see you included both. I was unsure which one to you (which method) and i’ll go with this.

AWESOME!! I have had this program in my drawer for 2 years because I “upgraded” to Vista and couldn’t use it anymore. But your instructions worked like a champ! You are the CHAMP!!!
